Registration Certificate Renewal - Blog Continued

 Contd.....

After almost a week I went to F-8 window to collect my new chasis number. Once this was allotted I went to the inspector to show him and do the needful. Now I was told that this chasis number is to be imprinted on the chasis. ( my footboard and chasis is damaged because of rusting )

I asked the inspector who would do this imprinting and he told me that its mostly done by showrooms. On enquiring further with some other staff I was guided to Pakeeza Market where Chasis engraving is done. I could not find it and was guided to Ibrahimbhai at Null Bazaar. I managed to trace him but he had stopped this work because of police harassment ( robbed vehicles ). He further guided me to Shoaib near Jaffarbhai's Delhi Darbar; but there was nobody by that name. On enquiring further I landed up at Moti Talkies where one shopkeeper did this work and was told Rs 1500/- and would take a day.

After spending Rs4000/- for registration I was wondering on spending this additional amount as I was not knowing the exact costing of such work. I decided to go back to the Inspector and told him that there was nobody who does engraving anymore because of Police harassment. One Sardarji sitting there overheard and said that the guy at Pakeeza market does this and was sure he will be available there. Now I decided to go again and this time I was lucky to find Shamimbhai who did this work but.....he quoted Rs 3700/-....

My my....I told him I would get back. Now I decided to dig further and find who could help me in doing this. I thought of asking my mechanic or my experienced Dad who has travelled all these areas during his business days. So on my way back I started thinking .... and HURRAY...my friend ( his company name is    ..... Engravers...thats what struck me ) does industrial engraving for his clients.

I immediately went to his factory at Mahim and showed him what I wanted. He asked his staff Mohan if it was possible to do it and he replied in affirmative. Mohan agreed to give me in 3-4 days. WOW.....Sorted.

It was now 15 days and Mohan apparently had been busy with orders and thus my work was delayed. Finally he agreed to give in a day and he did.

Finally got my chasis engraved though not as original but good enough to take a stencil print on paper. Now I took the same to my mechanic so that it can be welded on the chasis. The welder refused to weld ...same reason...police issues. So we decided to stick it in the helmet compartment.

Now armed with my chasis I went for inspection with a little doubt that it may not be accepted as it was stuck. And my bad luck ....the Junior inspector objected to it. I told him that it cannot be welded as the footboard and chasis was rusted and I will do the needful once I replace the same post monsoon. The Jr. Inspector called the Sr. Inspector and I requested him the same and he approved of it.....again HURRAY.

Post inspection approval with sign and stamp of the inspector I submitted the docs to E-16 ( this clerk now knew me ). He check and enquired if I did all as instructed. I said YES as guided by him; its done.

He asked for my mobile number; now I was worried ....What For ??  ( Was he expecting something ? Did he want to trouble me now ? ) He said just in case if there is any information required.

RC will be couriered in 30-45 days and post that one last visit to RTO will be required.

I left and was back home, happy.  Next day he called me ....saying that the inspection report was not updated online.. Now I thought he is expecting something for sure. He asked me to visit again and ask the inspector to update it online. ( He could have done the same thru a peon...but ....)

Next day I went to the Sr. Inspector and told him that report was not online which he immediately did and I went back to E-16 and submitted the papers. I told the clerk to verify the same in my presence which he did and ALL WAS WELL.......
